Our History.
The Mason Richards Partnership 1981 -1985
We started at Wolverhampton's Premier Architectural Practice, a multi-disciplinary practice providing a personal and comprehensive Architectural
Design service fully integrated with Landscape Architecture, Planning, Engineering and Project Management expertise in the practice, and available
throughout the UK from offices in the West Midlands and Bristol. Working on a wide and varied range of commercial buildings, surveying public houses
for Bass and Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries and designing pub extensions and new licensed premises for both companies.
Aberystwyth Harbour re-development - 1985
We worked on Russia Docks, a major housing development in the Rotherhithe area of South London where properties were built over dock filled areas
and the existing stone walls of the dry docks providing some challenging structural design.
Building Design Practice 1985 - 1989
Wolverhampton Architects Architects who designed The Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill in the Midlands. We joined Building Design virtually
at the start of construction of the Merry Hill shopping centre, overseeing some of the building works and preparing working drawings. We headed up
the team in control of Phase III of the centre and on completion were part of the team designing the massive Phase V of the complex.
Wolverhampton Racecourse - 1987
Phase V was a huge expansion into a two storey mall which included a monorail system linking the
shopping centre to Phase VI, an immense office complex including a new marina on the Dudley

Castlemore Securities Limited 1992 - 1999
Property Development Company Castlemore, founded in 1970, was one of Britain's leading
Development Companies and had an ambitious development and investment programme. Based in
Halesowen in the Midlands, it specialised in retail and leisure developments throughout the UK, with
a portfolio of schemes worth over 250 million pounds sterling.
We helped with the design of a range of commercial projects including a number of retail parks. We designed the new Castlemore head office and also
spent time searching for new sites to develop. We were responsible for the computer network and learned HTML language and created the Castlemore
web site.
Princess Park Retail Park - 1996
Castlemore created a large number of out of town retail parks including Fosse Park in Leicester,
Crossley Park in Kidderminster, Valley Plaza in Croydon, Castlepoint in Bournemouth, St. John’s in Wolverhampton, Hedge End in Southampton,
Culverhouse Cross in Cardiff, Wrekin Retail Park in Telford, Princess Park in Sutton Coldfield and Weston Riverside in Bath.
We designed the general layouts of these parks including parking layouts along with brochures for expressions of interest in purchasing the initial sites.
Prestige Retail Park - 1999
Castlemore took retail warehouse developments to the highest level, winning business and design accolades along the way, for national retailers such
as Sainsburys, Tesco, Safeway, Homebase, Currys, Halfords, Boots, Marks and Spencers, Carpetright, DFS, Comet and Staples.
Using our expertise helped to produce innovative and environmentally sound office schemes, regenerating inner city brownfield sites for a wide range of blue chip clients.
Castlemore Head Office
1997
We designed the new head office for Castlemore and oversaw the build programme and site
management.
Britannia Stadium
2000
We worked on the design of the new stadium for Stoke City Football Club and later became the
web designers and photographers for Stoke City Ladies.
APK Design 2001
In 2001 we set up APK Design, a Design Company in Staffordshire specialising in Architectural
Design, Website Design and Photography. We were contracted by Prime Oak Buildings to provide
website design, brochure design, photography and the design and detailing of their oak framed
buildings.
Along with the design elements we also created pricing, customer, stock handling, material ordering
and drawing databases. We developed the new logo featuring ‘Barney’ - the flying barn owl and
took over the quoting of jobs and looked after their team of salesmen along with looking after Prime
Oak's advertising.
We also continued to provide design work to other companies
including 3d design work on agricultural estates and various
house designs with numerous private clients and small development companies.
